Event Planning

SAB_Logo_Digital-01.png

During my junior and senior year of college I served as the Chair of Professional Development and then as the Chair of Health and Wellness for FIT's Student Activities Board (SAB). The SAB is an extension of FIT's Student Government and has high event quotas and expectations.

Some of my responsibilities include:

  • Creating a program pitch to get my supervisor and the rest of my team on board with my idea

  •  Creating a marketing form that outlines everything I want to be included on the posters including copy, images, and dates

  • Finding and contacting vendors and being the primary contact with them throughout the planning process

  • Collecting performance agreements and financial forms from vendor

  • Working with the Director of Finance to create a budget for the event

  • Ordering supplies and putting in catering orders

  • Setting up the event, delegating tasks, greeting students, and ensuring the vendors are comfortable and had everything they needed during their performance.

  • Meeting a quota of 9 events for each semester

80's Aerobics
September 2022

For this event, I was inspired by 80's workout dances because they are a great way to be active while still having fun. I arranged FIT's Dance Company Coach, Kellyn Mylchrest, to lead the class. We danced our hearts out to "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" by Whitney Houston.

Rooftop Yoga
September 2022

For this event, I reserved the rooftop of one of FIT's buildings to host a yoga class. I worked with Dharma Yoga Studio and I had Azusa Hirano lead the class. It was great to breathe in the late summer air and get some much needed relaxation.

Area 53 Adventure Park
October 2022

This was an off campus event at Area 53 Adventure Park in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Students were able to experience a challenging ropes course, rock climbing, rollerskating, and arcade games. I learned the process involved with safety waivers and having FIT and Area 53 agree on it.

Jammin' Juice Bar
November 2022

For this event, I worked with Juice Generation to bring 150 bottles of cold-pressed juice to the FIT campus. We transformed our student lounge into a Caribbean juice bar. We played Reggae music and set out Jumbo Jenga and Connect Four for the students to play while they enjoyed their juice.

Painting & Planting
November 2022

For this event, we provided painting materials, blank flower pots, and live succulents for students to customize their own flower pot and then plant a succulent in it. We played relaxing music and diffused lavender oil into the air to create a stress relieving environment.  We had over 50 students participate in this event.

Bad Bunny Spin Class
November 2022

For this event, I collaborated with FIT's Athletics Department to host a Bad Bunny themed class. These spin classes usually take place but I made this class extra specially by purchasing giveaways, adding decor, and bringing a DJ. This event brought attention to the athletics department and the free classes that they offer. We had 50 students in attendance.

LUSH Pop Up
December 2022

For this event, I coordinated with Lush to bring their products as well as provide the students with a skincare consultation. We had other tables in addition to the Lush table such as a DIY sugar scrub station, DIY nail salon, a table for a student run skincare brand, and a refreshment station with cucumber and fruit infused water. This event was a huge success with over 100 students in attendance. The video shown to the left was taken by a student enjoying the event followed by a haul of all the freebies that she received.
